A routine meeting of the heads of the Belarusian and Latvian border services took place in Minsk
At the meeting Mr Alexander Boyechko, Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus, and his Latvian counterpart Mr Normunds Garbars agreed to take measures in 2013 to make preparations for the IIHF world championships that will be held in Belarus in 2014.
As per the press center of the State Border Committee of Belarus the sides had agreed to take measures in 2013 for the sake of preparing for the 2014 world ice hockey championships in Belarus. The heads of the border services noted that only joint measures can put a stop to criminal intentions, said the source.
The heads of the border services shared information about the situation at the Belarusian-Latvian border, the operation of border checkpoints, efforts of the border services to counteract illegal migration and other transboundary criminal activities. The sides discussed prospects of cooperation in the development and implementation of international technical aid projects.
