On Sunday, September 30 Miory will host the first ecological “Cranes and cranberries of Miory district”
The event is organized by Joint European Union and United Nations Development Programme Project
"Support to the development of a comprehensive framework for international cooperation in the Republic of Belarus” in cooperation with, Miory Executive Committee, the Yelnia Nature Reserve and public organization “Protection of birds of Motherland” with assistance of Ministry of sport and tourism of the Republic of Belarus.
The place and time of the festival was not chosen accidentally. September is the starting point for cranberry harvesting. Moreover, The Elnya Reserve is very rich on cranberries. Miory district annually “welcomes” more than 4000 cranes and 10000 geese, who stay for rest at the Elnya Moorlands during their autumn migration.

Everyone can watch flocks of cranes and make wonderful photos. For the convenience of the guests a bus will run between the distict centre and fields, where the birds feed themselves during the day. Professional ornithologists will conduct tours. Full of impressions the participants and guests of the festival may take part in ecological games, choose the best coaching inn, try cranberry water, cranberry bans and rolls, buy berries for winter as well as other goods.
The event will be held with the participation of UNDP, EU, Ministry of natural resources and environmental protection of the Republic of Belarus and Ministry of sport and tourism of the Republic of Belarus and diplomatic missions.
Under the project a free transfer Minsk-Miory, Miory-Minsk will be organized.
