First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus Sergei Rednenko and Deputy Director of the Central Customs Office of the State Revenue Service of Latvia Sandra Karklina-Admine inspected the border checkpoints at the Belarusian-Latvian border on 11 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
The two inspectors visited the border checkpoints Urbany-Silene and Grigorovshchina-Paternieki. The Belarusian and Latvian customs officers were also made familiar with the progress in refitting the border checkpoint Grigorovshchina, which is scheduled for re-opening in October 2012.

Sergei Rednenko and Sandra Karklina-Admine discussed the procedure for sharing information about commodities and vehicles that cross the Belarusian-Latvian border and talked over the transportation of commodities, which are subject to veterinary and sanitary control. The sides discussed ways to prevent queues before border checkpoints and to promptly share information if such queues appear.

The sides were confident that joint actions of the customs service of Belarus and Latvia will continue allowing the development of the infrastructure of border checkpoints with a view to enabling proper conditions for the transportation of passengers, commodities, and vehicles via the border as well as proper conditions for the operation of the auditing services at the border.
